HOTEL AND RESTAURANT LINDE SEXAU
What´s On In The Black Forest
Sexau is located in the heart of Europe, not far from France and Switzerland. You´ll find
"Berggasthof Linde" in Obersexau, outside of the main village, about 450m above sea level.
The next cities to Sexau are Waldkirch, Emmendingen and Freiburg. Sexau is located in the warmest region of Germany; this can be seen in the succesful fruit and wine growing.
Village Sexau is mentioned in history for the first time in 862, at this time its name was "Secchosouna". More information about the history of Sexau can be found on the website of the municipality Sexau.

Between 1200 and 1400 mining played a significant role in the area of Freiamt / Sexau. In the 17th and 18th century silver was mined in mine "Carolinengrube" in Sexau. The mine can still be visited by tourists.
If you drive from Obersexau to village of Sexau you will see "Ruine Hochburg" on your right, the ruins of a medieval castle. The Castle is mentioned for the first time in 1127 and it had the most influence in the region for 500 years. Through various wars the castle was finally ruined, but it is still open for visitors. On the top of the hill you have a beautiful sight over Sexau.
